Wow, very very interesting
This slipped under my radar but quality find
Centamin has the mine in Egypt called Sukari which is very comparable to SOC's Mt Adrah deposit, from the style of mineralisation to even the high grade intersections - I have provided the figures and comparison in another thread previously
http://hotcopper.com.au/post_single.asp?fid=1&tid=2132548&msgno=9892779
Interestingly they are on the hunt for undervalued deposits and have just offered AMX $40M+ for their deposit
IMO there was nothing special about the studies and economics of AMX's deposits, yet they have just received a takeover bid at a multiple of the current share price
This is exactly as I have said all along, just because gold is soft doesn't mean M&A and takeovers stop, they actually ramp up as it is cheaper for majors to acquire deposits than do their own exploration whereas when gold is $1900 the juniors can fund their own exploration
So if AMX has just been offered $40M from Centamin, I am now even more excited to see what the likes of Centamin may offer SOC for their Mt Adrah deposit
