If a major human outbreak occurs it will most likely start in a big city like Jakarta - population 9 million. The WHO is saying when, not if a major outbreak will occur.
There is also growing concern that the use of some drugs for treatment of birds - which is now happening is various parts of Asia, including Indonesia - will cause drug resistance and will hamper the treatment of bird flu in humans
A major outbreak will cause panic around the world, and given our proximity to Asia its effect here will be even greater. It's not going to happen tomorrow but the experts are saying it will happen sometime soon.
