The percentage change in gas prices over last 12 months gives some idea about the gas price increase BIS can expect for 2019.
The Wallumbilla Gas Hub price changes shown on the AER website are one source of price information.
In Dec 2017 when BIS last renewed their gas contract the average monthly price was 8.00/GJ. By Sep 2018 the price had risen to 10.00/GJ, 25% price increase and it has been a steady monthly price increase for last 5 months.
Last annual report shows revenue of $88m, cost of goods sold $71m and npat $4.2m. Lets guess gas was 25% of the cost of goods sold, so total cost $18m. A 25% increase in gas price adds about the same as last years npat to operating costs.
