It’s not just the cruise unfortunately this thing can’t be stopped by half measures it’s an all or nothing decision and this has been proven the world over now.
QLD elections going ahead, shopping centres open, government policy resulting in Centrelink queues, no limits on numbers of shoppers at Coles, schools open. - The list goes on. You plug one hole another will open. So all holes have to be plugged.
The crowds that were at Bondi at the weekend will be at one of these places today. Our doubling rate is accelerating to every 3 days there is no slow down.
You need to plan for being exposed to this.
ICU capacity could be hit as early as mid April after which my estimate is that you may not get the care you need for at least 2 months (ironically the young at Bondi will probably have your bed).
So from about now and for at least 2 months it would be a good idea to do everything possible to avoid catching this imo. The only thing that has a chance of saving ICU capacity (or at least help us reduce the time it is overloaded for) is to follow the lead of NZ immediately.
But of course we all know that already - long past time for leaders to step up.
