I have three sons, (out of high school now) and took them to all the tafe days, expos etc to show them what was available.
So many kids going into electrical but heaps of places vacant for 'all' the other trades.,i have seen this going on at Tafe for well over a decade now.
it's just a matter of time, that the pool of qualified people will shrink to a point of no return, hence all the innovations coming into play, it's the only way it can be resolved.
Don't get me started on the pay for apprentices, its atrocious unless you get a fifo gig.
Would love the Govt to explain how a kid from the country can move to 'say' Perth and survive on 1st year apprentice wages, its fkn impossible in current environment, that's if you can get a room to rent.

FBR is def on the right track, it might just take a while, the penny will drop though.

Not sure about WA but apprentices in Vico under the EBA’s make pretty decent coin and they get all the OT penalty rates too if they get the hours
