Mariana town. 5 years on. Survivors still not fully compensated. This video is from 8/11/2020.

    From the video:
"This week inWhat’s Happening in Brazil, we look into how five years after a dam disaster in the town of Mariana, located in the state of Minas Gerais, victims have yet to be fully compensated and are being left to rot by those responsible. When the Fundão dam ruptured on November 5th, 2015, 19 people died and an estimated 700,000 lost their livelihoods"

I thought I would open up a new thread, because this kind of back story gives context to why sentiment towards Vale may have shifted in Minas Gerais, and why they are still struggling to reach their guidance. Also, I don't want to distract at all from the focus on the IO price in the thread of that name. Its relevance to FMG, is of course, that Vale's production figures have a direct influence on the IO price, and therefore FMG's profitability.

Only the first 30 second segment of this video is relevant. 5 years on. And all temporary relief payments stopped at the height of the pandemic.
