DJ Australia's Caltex Seeks Variation On Clean Fuels Rule
MELBOURNE (Dow Jones)--Oil refiner Caltex Australia Ltd. (CTX.AU) said Friday it is seeking a short-term variation on the Australian government's clean fuel standards because it's unlikely to complete upgrades of its Sydney and Brisbane refineries by the deadline.
Chief Executive Dave Reeves said Caltex was seeking a three-month extension of the Jan. 1, 2006, deadline.
"Caltex will only use the variation if necessary and is doing everything within its power to have the systems and facilities in place to delivery clean fuels by the government deadline," Reeves said in a statement.
