There is no good reason. Open borders is championed by those wanting cheap labor and/or those wanting developed Western democracies to collapse.
It's somewhat amusing that some of those who advocate for gun control also advocate for mass immigration from countries with rampant gun violence. The USA is seventh in gun deaths per capita in North America, yet they want those rootin tootin shootin lootin types to be welcomed to the US?
