economicwise isn't the maybe additional net cost of conversion to be compared to the alternative, paying the price for co2-emissions?
so the higher the co2 price is, the more profitable it is to use ( and pay for) the conversion?
not to speak of possible future quantitative limits of emissions for industries or companies?
maybe not in australia, but elsewhere.
the price per ton of co2 in europe is about aud 88.
that conceptionally is the cost for a break even conversion, is it ?
why do large miners in australia build solar plants? to lower energy costs net of co2-price. that could be used to employ the capture and low cost conversion as well.
in the end it is of course about the best conversion efficiency to be competitive to other cc and conversion products, but it can very well have a net price .
hope this adds a different point of view to the discussion.
