The Catholic church is not the only religious body being attacked at all. There is nothing unfair about the criticism of this religion. The point is that in this country it is the largest religious group, it is entrench in our political system which makes it very difficult to bring it to heel, therefore it is going to attract a lot of criticism, especially when it has committed so many heinous crimes against humanity and used all its power to hide these crimes or to fight against just payouts to remediate these capital crimes.
There isn't a day goes by when I don't hear some criticism of Islam, be it right or be it wrong. The Jehovah Witness get their asses handed to them a fair bit as well, especially after the royal commission.
The Catholic church is an anachronism, a body of old men who imagine themselves to be on a first name bases with God and that their calling has a higher priority than the wellbeing of children. The confessional is a manmade contrivance.
It's about time certain aspects of this confessional nonsense is undone to further protect children rather than protect despotic priests and to make their hunting of children as difficult as it can be. The best solution would be to deregister the church, but like I say, Canberra is run by Catholics so that's not about to happen.
