Last time I looked when you own as many shares as they do it's a very substantial amount to come up with! Even for the well heeled.
How many times have we seen shareholders on this forum say they couldn't afford to participate despite being confident of the companies future prospects? Plenty.
Whether the directors know there is a good announcement coming or not..If you haven't got the funds it's redundant.
Example..Your neighbors offer you their $1,000,000 property for $500,000...It's a steal if you can get a loan or have funds for $500,000 but if you can't..It's just another great opportunity you had to pass on.
