Volume is very important.....the up-days in Zip have generally been on weak volume and down moves in heavy volume.
I use Elliot Wave principle which has a primary count and secondary count
You know quickly if your primary count is wrong and limit your losses.
Charting is subjective and you need to be able to admit when you get it wrong to limit losses and preserve capital
