    It is not in the interests of the Feds to keep the price of petrol high.It knows that it has a deleterious effect on inflation and so,indirectly, on its chances of being reelected. But I am surprised, taking into consideration the high Aussie dollar,that we have not heard, even a whisper from the Feds, about the relatively high price of petrol.

    Maybe Swanny doesn't really understand the effect of a high Aussie dollar and is waiting for Treasury to give him the requisite advice. Let's hope he is able to comprehend it! Maybe he is incapable of comprehending that the price of petrol effects a far greater number of people, on a daily basis, than mortgage rates. But then he is not the brightest Australian Federal Treasurer since Federation, so we can't expect too much, can we?
