Would be better.

We don't have non-stick pots. We bring the porridge to the boil, without stirring, and then turn stove off. Then we stir, and allow the accumulated heat to cook the oats for 5 minutes or so. No porridge sticks to the pan.

If you stir when it is heating up - it sticks.
