Agree with your post.
She CAN hold off on a carbon tax if she wants to, until it can be put to a vote in the next election.
There is no good reason to bring this in now, unless there is another reason like;
A secret deal with the Greens
A secret deal with the Independents
A secret deal with the powerbrokers in the ALP
The budget is in flames so more revenue needed quickly.
No-one knew she would do this before the election.
The result as you say was very tight.
Such a huge impost and change should have be brought before the people before making it law.
She didn't so that, so I too consider she broke her word not to bring in a carbon tax so that makes her a liar on this issue in my opinion.
