"Notice on 7/10/08 CBA had 51,832,840 shares or 3.22%"

This is not correct. CBA holds VPG through a number of subsidiary companies, and these 51m shares are only ONE of the holding companies. At the bottom of the first page, you'll see a box that looks very similar to all the other boxes on the page, but it says:

"Grand TOTAL 81,773,600 5.09%"

That's the number to look at. So my previous numbers stand.

Agreed that 144m or thereabouts has traded since then, but not all of that will be CBA. Then again, they are not necessarily aiming to get out altogether - they may be just reducing to 2% or 3%, we won't know.
