IMO the Aust govt has been very lucky with this pandemic Fortunately, our govt has done just barely enough to keep the cases from exploding into the 100s of thousands There have been a few cock-ups: such as 100 or so infected cruise passengers left to spread the disease, letting air travellers from established hotspots enter the country without checks for far too long But we're fortunate COVID isn't that easily transmitted If it were easily transmissible then anyone infected going to a transport hub would give it to 100s, or to a crowded shopping centre 1 becomes 100 then 10000 then 1 million in no time. When you think about it, someone infected can be infectious for about 2 weeks (I've read but not sure how long exactly) Yet on average before strict control measures, they would only on average infect 2 to 3 others in that time
The world is so lucky this is the case - hopefully we learn from this to prepare for the next pandemic
