A bright session, even if sentiment did not improve much at the speculative end of the market. The S&P/ASX Emerging Companies Index bounced 0.18%, versus a 0.82% rise for the ASX 200.

Financial sector bounced 1.18% off a fie-month low. Energy also strong, rising 0.88%.

US futures little changed ahead of tonight's Fed rates decision. S&P 500 futures +0.06%.
