From Asia to Africa for a short tour of some of that continent's breakfast delicacies. Mandazi are a type of fried bread similar to a doughnut. They are popular in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Variations exist in Nigeria and Ghana. They are often made with coconut milk and enriched with ground almonds or peanuts. They have a light, fluffy texture but are generally less sweet than western doughnuts.
