Fed holds rates steady and says they are done with rate cuts on the horizon. Market rallies in NYC. Falling rates lift all boats and no recession to get to where Chair Powell wants to go baby go! To be technical if you look at whatever income you thought you had and now decrease the discount factor (assume a perpetual bond) then the security is worth more. Add to that revenue expectations that are now higher by a factor and you have two positive impacts on price more to discount and a lower rate = price up!
