Funny I re read what I said. I stated what has happened historically. It is up to you to do research to decide if you want to believe it applies to the future or not. You criticize but do not offer a counter idea other than i am wrong. Why not state clearly what you think will happen then people can do research and make up their own ideas.
As far as bounds go I started buying bounds over a year ago Stated it on this board as an alternative. My broker recommended it and it took me almost a month to be convinced. The sell price has gone up as expected but still not what I hoped. Hopefuy the FED will drop rates but right now that is unlikely for a while.
I stopped buying bounds a few months ago. The reason is I reached what I considered a safe level for one type of investment. Also the economy is getting much harder to read and that raises the risk. The average remaining term on my bounds is 10~ 15 years. My plan is to sell them with a capital gain in less than 5. On average since the stated interest was low I bought them for 60%~ 80% of face value Time will tell if I am correct. As I have said before I have no insight into the future beyond a year so I make investment plans based on 6 to 12 months. I am doing much better with bounds than any one who bought or held Lynas when i bought the bounds When I sell I will tell you what I earned in interest and capital gain and we will compare with Lynas. JMO The bounds will do better. than many stocks at lower risk, That is why i did them.
As I have said before am 74 years old and have been retired for 19 years. I live on my investments and I live well. I do understand my objectives are different from someone younger. How am I doing my? My portfolio is about 2 X what it was when I retired which does not sound very good. During those 19 years I have taken out almost 80% of my original balance that means I am doing fine. I just do not have the energy to do what I did at 55. My withdrawal rate was much higher in the beginning.
