Part of the problem is it's difficult to know what LYC will/can do about the two head winds facing it; The first is that the Kalgoorlie plant requires sulphuric acid, that they are currently buying from BHP (a by product of their nickel mining process); as BHP are mothballing their WA nickel production it is unclear where LYC will get the required H2SO4 from. The second is the fact the the Kalgoorlie plant needs a LOT of fresh water, a scarce commodity in Kalgoorlie. This is causing some disquiet among some citizens of Kalgoorlie. Again, a difficult issue to resolve.
