I think we need to pause and think about your proposal(s). Like many others, I went through what @DttK describes, and even challenged CJ at one stage questioning whether he/she/it was actually (i) a real person, or (ii) a paid agent of some sort. While it seems the former is not the case, I still cannot imagine how anyone could motivate themselves to produce 6½ thousand posts on a stock they don't own.

That doesn't mean CJ's posts are worthless. He (let's call CJ a 'he' for simplicity) does make mistakes, but when he realises it, or has it pointed out, he immediately owns up, and withdraws or corrects. There are plenty of posters all over these threads who have never really added much, if any value, and CJ isn't one of those. Some of his stuff is definitely relevant and interesting.

So where does that leave us? There's a problem with trying to determine how many folks read posts, 'cos you have to read (most of) them to work out if they are of any value ... we've all read or skimmed several thousand of those. Everyone still has the 'ígnore' button, but I worry it can cause a lack continuity in a discussion. As for banning on some form of majority, that's a lynch-mob mentality.

Finally, it's good that LYC threads are not echo chambers or cheer-squads like on some other threads. They really are useless.
