The future is here just not evenly distributed with Asia EV charging ahead with EU and NA taking a break as it drifts between gas and EV. EV now beats gas on price in Asia while with subsidies it is just getting there in NA. Broad numbers suggest almost 40% new vehicle sold penetration in Asia while stuck around 10% NA. Decelerating shift to EV’s in NA partially driven by lack of affordability, lack of charging and as we have seen lately lower gas prices. GM, Ford and now Tesla continue to face retooling expenses while planning made difficult by economy pace of transition and major capex for battery plants and dare I say possibly Texas. Kalgorlie seems fully baked and awaiting announcement any day first production. One thing is sure we aren’t going back to a carbon future and Lynas is strategically being managed by AL & Co to profit from the transition as uneven as it is distributed. India sits somewhere in the middle. The world is an ever more complex place. Bloomberg had a series of articles on week end that reflect these thoughts Bloomberg Green and Bloomberg. Go Amanda!
