I guess that would make sense if God indeed exists because there is no evidence that he does in fact exist - it seems then that God is based on retrofitting to a preconceived notion of God based purely on faith.

The multitude of beliefs in the nature of God by theists - on the forum alone - suggests that you may have a God that insists on believing in him based on faith alone with little clarity of his/her nature.

I'll go with my dictionary's definition, "A strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny".
