If you subscribe to that theory then never invest in mining or oil explorers - or a biotech. It is all about the degree of risk you want to take and how balanced your portfolio is. Sovereign bonds and housing are at some risk. We all need to be lucky that the Europeans sort out their problems! If you are not sure that they can - then don't invest at all (but what about the risk of not investing?)
