From what I learned from the Earp presentation last year, the current range of ceramic products (from Ibero and Porcelanosa etc) more than adequately fit this market, and then some (they can be used as internal/external wall and floor surfaces, not just benchtops). They're just higher price items, hence the choice of builders to go with engineered stone. Builders will now have the choice of either reverting to previously used (expensive) stone products such as marble, or compromise for lower quality (cheaper) products like laminates or wood (but even now wood has become very pricey). This could be yet another timely opportunity for ADN. From memory, Porcelanosa was planning to significantly increase its presence in Australia anyway. Does this mean our product could be used here (and save further on shipping costs)? We shall see...
