What many here seem to overlook is the fact that this is more than simply a pain application. It's an advanced AI pattern recognition technology development with mobile applications.
When looking to the dementia care market there are a few important points to keep in mind.
In summary keep in mind that the app is perhaps just a single vertical for this technology.
- Family of the patients are generally the ones who chose the care providers and do so based primarily on their ability to minimise suffering as the patient deteriorates and finally passes.
- The care facility who can clearly show that they lead in pain management will have a competitive advantage in this billion dollar industry.
- EPT and nViso have developed a pain assessment technology which is not limited to use in a mobile phone, could easily be rolled into a site wide cctv type system that automatically alerts staff when pain symptoms are picked up.
- The same facial recognition technology in continuous use can likely be used to detect the unique pain and discomfort expressions from those having a heart attack or stroke.
