True, the Abbey Pain Scale doesn't prevent any diagnosis of artificial pain. And the app is certainly an improvement on this. It will do well. However, I cannot see how the childrens app can be developed without distinguishing fake pain from real pain. Babies will cry for attention (which in itself may be called 'fake pain'). Surely this makes sense to people reading....

For further development in the childrens app I would guess that the breif video capture would analyse the vocalisations and behaviors perhaps more so than microexpressions in the face, which would 99% of the time be used when the child is crying anyway. Perhaps the severity of audio indicators would prove more useful for babies than dementia patients.
