Okay so pre-strip mining I gather is just volume waste removal to get at or close to the mineable ore so mining engineers or just estimators familiar with the specification of various mining gear would probably work out based on what excavation equipment (how many diggers, how many graders, dump trucks etc) waste to be used how much that waste removal would cost (equipment maintenance, fuel, personnel costs) and how long it would take in time.

To me it looks like that's a cost that needs to be addressed up-front in PFS scenario. And it is would seem to be something that is able to be approximated even now.

The other existing mines I am aware of, as Scarpa pointed out, like Greenbushes got down that deep but they were mining ore as they were doing so.

LTR's Kathleen resource seems to have a pure waste moving task that has to take place up-front before mining properly gets started - and that cost of that waste moving task would also be upfront.

Have other projects done similar? Be good (interesting) to get an idea of the likely cost and time involved in moving the volume of waste to get to the mine-able ore face.

Yes - we are on the same page here JB - just waiting for the " You don't know LTR" response comments...

It will be an upfront cost of many $$$, re-cooped later as the spod is sold or sent to a JV conversion plant for processing.

I would imagine in any sale or JV this cost will blunt the $$$ amount or terms that KV attracts.

The fact that BD may shape up very well - a % sale of BD could be used as an offset/trade/sweetener for the pre-strip costs in KV.

I suppose nothing is off the table when you have options. Luckily for LTR they have options with at least 2 deposits of note.

The ongoing drill results, BD MRE, met tests and PFS due in November will keep the momentum going here for quite a while.

hopefully all north - I suspect it will be.
