Good morning Nanna pica,
I hope you are well today? So, that is fascinating about your dear Mum, making all of these Cornish pasties
Did your parents or your grandparents emigrate here from Cornwall?
They obviously kept their traditions going. I first learned to make Cornish pasties in domestic science at school.
They were delicious. Sadly now in Cornwall, you have these people selling so called pasties from a van or such and they are horrible, all factory produced, but there are still many small bakeries where you can buy a decent one.
We used raw mincemeat for our pasties, they were wonderful.
I could easily scoff one whole one down, but I was a very hungry young girl.
Have a great day.
Jo Jo
PS I hadn't heart of sweet pasties and sweet and savoury each end either.
Cornish people were very hard working, fishermen, farmers and of course tin miners so they needed sustenance.
