Police are URGING motorists to "not drive through flooded roads,
all to no avail. Council, or whomever, to erect a sign,
"Do not enter", or similar, and a $5,000 fine for any one that disobeys the warning.
Not only are lives lost, but the fools that try to drive through flooded crossings,
invariably endanger the lives of those that are called on to save them.
Just saw one on T.V., in Qld, yapping/distracted on his phone, hit a flooded crossing,
(all the time still on his phone), and was swept downstream.
## As a side note, how much effort does it take for councils/politicians,
to realise that a reasonably high barrier, on the downstream side of crossings
would prevent those that are stupid enough to try and drive through,
from being swept away.
Pretty simple solutions, couple of fines would pay for the safety barriers.
*** 600 mm to bottom of first part of barrier, 400 mm between bars,
and a height of 1.5 metres would save so much effort and heartache.
Any money collected from fines to go to the voluntary SES workers,
to help pay for equipment.
