John 3:3-8 -
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and ofthe Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
*The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
*You need living proof that you have the holy spirit.
So the Spirit described here as an example of the wind etc, suggest that you may not have the proof in the context your suggesting?
Notice Jesus says born again of the Spirit.
Now Jesus speaking the words of his God & Fathers John 12:49, says these words are;
John 6:63 - It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, theyare spirit, and they are life.
Now then;
1 Peter 1:23 - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
John 1:13 - Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
You are only born again via one way, so born of God, of Spirit, of The Word --> means The word of God = These 3 are all, the One and Only Almighty God and Father.
So right here alone, that should tell people that there is no way that Jesus is either The Word OR The Word of God, Jesus is the carrier of The Word which means, The Word of God.
Jesus in John is not even mentioned until 1:14 and then The Word (Fullness of God, his Father) came in the Temple (Jesus) not built with hands = Immanuel = 2 totally different identities. (Just as God came to the Temples, Tent in the OT and the Glory = (Word) fill the Tent).
As in 1 & 2 Cor - God dwelling in your Temple and the Holy Spirit in another verse = there is not 2 separate, things or identities here, just One Almighty God.
So testing as to whether one has the Holy Spirit = test the words (Spirit) in them for truths as per the Bible message that they relay = testing the Spirit.
John 8:47 - He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
IMO here, Jesus is not just speaking of hearing in the literal aspect,... and we also have;
John 14:26 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Now if you look at John 16:13-15, Jesus identifies the comforter, Spirit of truth as the Almighty God and Father.
IMO as well, the teaching, reminding you of what was said, is not only directed at the people standing there, but to all those that truly find the true God and true Jesus.
The best way I can describe it, when you find these key truths, whose who (God and Jesus, first milk) and actually read for yourself, not follow what someone else says, when you find the truth, read etc, you will know for certainty, without any doubts whatsoever.
You will be led like a dog on a lead, haha, here a little and there a little and out of the blue, all the dots will align for a previously unknown area and sometimes, unexpected.
Now I'm talking here or more so on the whose who matter, BUT, that in itself may appear small, but has numerous branches.
--------------------
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
This area or verse here ties in with the 1st Adam and 2nd Adam.
Jesus born of the Spirit = Almighty God, and hence words from him = Good News and not good and evil as per man, 1st Adam.
This area in itself opens up a number of branches and had people properly grasped them, the angel of lights trap in John 1:1-2 and 1:14 would most likely be exposed.
It also ties in with the verse, in the twinkling of an eye people will be changed, basically that is putting off the fleshly thinking, or words out of you.
Not quite the super magical change many have trumped up, turning into spirits etc haha.
-------------------
Anyway, I have probably run off track a little or on exactly what you asked.
Pentecost - I personally have not read the Bible in this area, study wise, as there is limited verses, in this area to properly establish as to what exactly we should be seeing in the world today.
Or whether a lot of this stuff was limited to them.
From my research, Bible only on what I call first milk or grass roots and onto the net to see when they first started teaching the trinity, IMO, the first milk, grass roots were done away with by most, around 150 years after Jesus and from my understanding, around the same period after the flood, the truth was likewise lost and the Bible tells us, history repeats itself. (Just like the days of Noah, 150 yrs after, it was lost?).
So maybe that's why the world is like it is and where not seeing many things?
According to Jesus's words, it would seem some have a spirit of a kind and can do certain things, however;
Matt 7:22-23 - Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
So who or what was the spirit behind them?
