No been doing much in the garden but bit happening
All the small fruit of this mango tree dropped last year but got about 8 getting close to picking and a few smaller ones. These are the first fruit for this tree
Feijoa has a heap of fruit and looking good, had a few last year, that was first time but didn't ripen properly. See how we go this year
Dragon fruit flower coming on, should open soon so need to keep an eye on it to hand pollinate. Got 8 flower on this one last year but no fruit set, hoping the other one flowers before long as I have had 2 fruit from 3 flowers
Ended up getting a heap of tommy's out the front but they were small, need to add more clay and organic matter to that bed and double up the the driper hose
Put another batch of tommy's at the back and it's going bonkers, flowers but no fruit yet. Humm do they need insects to pollinate?
Passion fruit vine going bonkers as well, I though my trellis was big enough but seems not
And am pleased that it's starting to flower
Mandarin tree has a ton of fruit on it and at a size were they should hold now, got about 50 good size fruit last year but this year I can count over 50 fruit standing in one spot not looking closely. Think they didn't ripen until about May last year, just check it was mid June
One chook still broody and has been sitting on the eggs for over 2 month Might try taking the eggs away and putting some egg shells under her if she doesn't give up soon.
Looks like 3 girls and 4 boys in the previous batch of chick, have told Mr Fig Jam he needs to pick them up before or when they start crowing
Lost the 3 chicks from the last batch, oh well I have a bag of starter/grower crumble for the next batch
Finally girls are laying eggs again after being broody, 2 per day, a normal size one and small one. The 3 young girls should be close to laying but don't think are are yet. So with 7 hens I will soon be eating eggs twice a day and have plenty to give away, rough estimate when they are all laying should get over 2 dozen per week.
Bloody rats, I noticed a nest in the shed so have been putting baits and ratsak, need to get in there and clean up the mess they made. Bloody things have chewed throw plastic bins and tubs I keep chook food and grain, invested in some steel galv bins so that should help.
Not seeing the big Marron lately thou have not made that much effort but must be mature ones as there are heap and heap tiny juveniles. Plenty of marron not quite legal size but I might start catching and cooking some of those, don't think size limits apply from my ponds. Need to set up a purge tank so can flush the crap out of them.
OK past wine O'Clock and being Friday I select from closer to the top shelf, tonight its Howard Park Flint Rock Shiraz. Plus some aromatherapy for medicinal purposes
