Yeah having a closer look the leaves are a pale green with a bit of yellow, but it's a hell of a lot better than a couple of years ago. I have a PVC ring around the base like the mango tree, again I need to increase the size I also put sheep poo around the base but chook scratch and spread it out. Again sandy soil water drains too easy
It is also quite close to a septic tank but not sure if roots have gone deep enough to feed on any nutrients from that I do have a piss around the drip lie at times
. Yeah suppose to dilute it.
I see conflicting info on what the soil PH should be but think it's too high, quite sure I added sulphur but need more and clay will help. Tree is at the back east side of the house so shelter from SW winds and hot afternoon sun, other trees protect shelter fro easterly winds
Good pruning tip, last prune was mainly removing dead and dying branches.
At mums house the was a old Imperial Mandarin that was neglected for years after dad passed away and didn't fruit much but after getting a hard prune and regular watering it produced a heap of fruit
Pruning is one thing that I was scared to do for fear of damaging the tree, but I have become more confident and see some fruit trees respond well to pruning. Gave my Hicks Mulberry a really hard prune last year and got the best crop ever by far, it was loaded. Gave it a prune after all the fruit was gone and now has a second crop.
Think pruning my weeping mulberry built my confidence, they need to be pruned hard to keep the shape neat and not over grown
