    Yeah still think adding clay will help

    There is a simple soil test you can do, few table spoons of soil into a glass of water, stir it up and let it settle.

    You will see that sand sits on the bottom, clay on top of that and silt (organic matter ect) on top, so you will see the layers and estimate the % of each. Look it up but think you need at least 20-30% clay, if 70-80% sand it will have trouble holding moisture and nutrients
