Good potential of where the future of energy in Australia could come from.... excellent indication of negative correlation between solar and wind... and the benefit of intermittent/despatchable storage (or gas) to firm supply.

It can and will be done

Back to OP question - who will become the power players??? A question I would not dare to know the answer to. The above report, originally modelled by Windlab shows that a renewable energy grid is certainly possible... a lot of additional investment is required for us to get there - a 500% increase in wind generation (7gwh to 35gwh) alone is a massive investment - if most of that capital comes from a handful of companies... I see some very large players involved.

Right now, IFN is in such a great position to capitalize on the current state of change within the Australian energy market and perhaps become a major player - its timing of adding firming gas turbines... and then the introduction of Lake Bonney Battery have really become game changing for the company.

I would love for this step change process of adding renewable generation capacity, and then increasing firming and storage in line with generation capacity to continue - while perhaps integrating battery storage into the development of new projects (or if capital lite, implementing a IFN owned battery storage into the location) as the benefits of having the battery on site are so obvious to all the nuts here that have discussed them on this forum

I have also been a holder from BBW times - so while I am keen to see the up and up of IFN - I still call for good management and a moderately geared balance sheet first and foremost... it took 9 years for BBW to morph into a happy IFN... I would be loathe to see that happen again.
