Lynas may have gotten a bit spoiled having the non-China production market mostly to itself. Now there will be a new and formidable non-Chinese competitor in MP Materials, which won't be joined at the hip to Japan and will have more flexibility. Regarding MP Materials, also important to note that a member of their Board of Directors used to be the Chairman to the Joint Chiefs of staff--the most powerful uniformed member of the Defense Department. Wouldn't be surprised if he was a big factor in DOD grant. It won't hurt to have him around when it comes to US Dept of Defense REE needs. A listing on the NYSE Exchange, 15 times the size the ASX, doesn't hurt in terms of big money, $ raising, fund inclusion, newsletter discussion and broadcast and other media coverage. Lynas might just need to shape up a bit in this fast changing REE universe. I think it's smart to hold both stocks at this time and see how things shake out.
