Yeah - I'm getting nervous that this may not just be a 'temporary' phase. The economic ramifications of the current (and likely) shutdown mean that some(/many) companies will not reopen. Even for those that do, activity will remain subdued for quite some time and some of the effects/repercussions will take a long period to rebuild/recover.
Unemployment in Australia is likely to stay higher than previous (pre-coronavirus) levels for a much longer period. Less employment means less demand for childcare/after-school. That will affect the whole sector but especially the larger players...
Despite any specific short-term help the Govt may give the sector, GEM is very highly geared and ill-prepared to see revenues and margins squeezed. The next 12 months will get very ugly before the dust settles...
Don't believe we've seen the bottom yet (especially with the shorters licking their lips...)
