Whilst no where near as thought out as your analysis Rhino I was having a conversation along similar lines with my wife on the weekend. I said, sure we could pay off the mortgage by selling our ADN shares and then retire with a modest level of assets, BUT (and that’s a big but) if we did that and IF (and I accepted that is still a big if) the shares continued to increase in value to say a $1 we would have given up over an extra $1m and the opportunity to retire in much greater comfort, and then live to regret that. After yesterday’s further rise that seems to have ended the conversation.
