Then ASIC knocks on your door at 5am and confiscates every electronic device in your house. Later that day they lay out on a long table a timeline of all your emails and phone calls and ask you to start explaining. Been there!

Why do the shorters need to say anything? They are betting on a cap raise, a hefty one. If true the board & the market guarantees them an opportunity to buy back. So much commentary here thinks the shorters are betting on getting stock in the placement but the market will sell it down anyway.

I have no idea if a hefty CR is coming but I am now cautious enough to stop 'bargain' hunting <20c and wait & see.

Shorting 50m shares requires a bit of conviction. I'm assuming the shorters know more than me.
