Different entities maybe but probably a link in there somewhere.
Which could broadly be defined as a conflict of interest.
While nothing could have been done in regard to the shorting since March and the speculation regarding a CR, maybe ADN should have asked for a Trading Halt before discussing the matter and formally engaging the three brokers. Whether it lasted for two days, two weeks or two months, it doesn't matter but it would have thrown a spanner in the works for the shorters.
Given the tendency of the ASX to look after it's own however, I don't think it would ever happen.
