In the absence of inside information which I hope and believe is not the case at the moment, shorting is a gamble. It is an even money bet, that is, the upside and downside from an equal move in cover sp up or down from the sp shorted at, is the same. Based on where I think we are atm I would certainly want much better odds than that.
