Oh I'm sure they are contributing, but there is a caliber of human you need with the CV to back it to enhance JM and his goals for our company and that is not exemplified by the current board.
There is often this attitude on hotcopper that you should just be happy with management / the board doing their best. I disagree. You want the best to be running the show. JM certainly is the best in his field. And why not want the best? It's your investment. I don't think mediocrity stands.
Companies get to transformational points where you need raw talent, both to attract new investors and to solidify the old ones.
There's nothing wrong with that.
