I think it will be alright.
Nearer the coast - will take time - and I hope it will !
Oyster farmers will be ultra - tichy near Coffin Bay and those areas where wash could go anywhere near oyster beds and associated mussels , or the oyster, marine life nurseries .
But main thing be that they just can’t of course , and won’t cause any disturbances to water supply reservoirs .

There are natural water drinking areas for the prolific kangaroos and wildlife - there is freshwater pools , the water table is very high here ! So your nearer to coast -specifically right there near Bairds , is low - lying but not high rainfall . ( aka - ? 13” in old scale per year )
( and possibly it’s below sea level ? )
Just inland from the sea inlets & bays -where there are these naturally occurring fresh water watering-holes .
This is where they filmed Storm Boy - as it resembled the Koorong , I think - where Colin Thiele story actually was set . ( east coast SA)
It is a beautiful area with significant bird habitats . But not for visitors .
They filmed Storm Boy , the original , here - Eyre peninsula, Bairds and Streaky Bay - the perfect location .
Protected areas- for the birds , further in from Baird bay - are
not so relevant here .
Poochera is bone dry !
50- 60 kms inland !
Arid almost or parts , officially bordering semi- Arid ? My guess .
Truly amazing the dry salt lake beds along way from here to the Gulf sea .
Clearly we are all learning about the greater value inbtge clay here .
Port Lincoln and oyster farming , marine areas & the whole Big tuna fishing offshore -is way away .

Fish , squid , octapus ? - in the Spencer Gulf . Important .
But they have been shipping out iron ore for decades through the most crucial zones further north in the Gulf .
I’m glad if more of this can be brought down - certainly deepwater offtake of iron ore has always been south of Whyalla.
Im glad the Govt is sanctioning a more appropriate Port - at Lucky Bay . Ideal . There is nothing there .
There are decades of thought , planning and consideration gone into this decision - deemed be best .
Surely they will have foreseen likely advanced minerals mining in the Eyre peninsula- the high quality silica , and semi precious? minerals have always been there
Oyster nursery industry - for finishing even across in specific bays around Kangaroo Island , is well established . And has it’s own locations, a different port - up in the Spencer gulf .
I can’t see how the abalone will be effected .
Illegal Poaching was the biggest issue with them in the past ! Sheer greed alone . There is a new industry , based in WA and also Port Augusta ? I think .
All this from past memory .
But irrelevant to ADN environmental concerns .
Hopefully the vehicle ferry will be again going routinely every day , daily services to & fro across the Gulf , Lucky Bay to old historic town port only an hour or so north of Adelaide
One thing stuck out to me- was the mention of the longterm New Zealand Hallyosite mining.. “184 kms north of Auckland .” Since the 1960s?
This area is also beautiful- absolutely beautiful.
Like southern coastal areas of Sth Oz and around even to Warrnambool, Victorian western coast parts - there have long been beach shacks . Fishing .
Such precious habitat needing protection.
If they have managed there , for over 50 years - I’m sure Streaky Bay environs also be able to be managed .
