It can be anybody shorting ADN as long as they have a margin and derivative account with IG or Invast or similar - usually has to be wholesale or "pro" to do these things. I agree with you that in the current situation, the shorters are unlikely to know anything you don't. They didn't need to earlier this year either as it was clear as day the company had to raise money - $10's millions over time. There was obvious leakage nearer the day as company did "unscheduled" presentations at brokers. Less clear now (I think they will but that's just an opinion). The shorts by these players are done on margin (20% currently) so they do get margin calls pending on what else is in their account. Don't forget, placing stop losses on the account on an individual stock may not help. If the stock gets a takeover offer, it likely goes into trading halt and then is up (say) 30-40% before you can cover back. As a help, for ~$20k down at present, you can short up to 666,667 ADN shares and would pay >$15k a year in financing costs. No para mi, gracias.
