My guess is that a lot of the shorts bought MEP and will cover when the takeover is complete and ADN shares are issued. Easy money especially early on when the arbitrage was quite high. If there is a substantial short position after the takeover is complete then I will wonder why but at this stage I think it's pretty clear what's going on.
