Its emotional trading. A stock is worth $0.20 so you try to buy at 19c, You do want in, and you do want to feel like a winner. The stock now goes to 22c and then you raise your bid to $0.21, yet could have bought at 20c easy enough.

Same on the sell side. Its one reason why @Pezz69 has said a couple of times that people don't know how to sell. Let the price go up then sell. If you fill the board up with sells, it drags the price down. Its also why some people who want to buy put in fake sell orders, and ensure it stays at the end of queue.

And I am guilty of this myself. I know with ADN, that paying a cent more, is going to make little difference at Poochera
