I’m not sure it’s always big volume, depends on the day. It seems to me they put in buy orders at higher prices to suck some sellers into thinking they will get that price and then at the last moment they pull some of the buy orders so the auction price is lower. Today for instance it looked like the price might be 18.5 (or even 19 for a short while) and so some sell orders appeared at low prices thinking they could get some of that action. At the last minute just enough buy orders at higher prices were pulled so the auction price ended up at 18c. Happens very often.
