I'm not a structural engineer either. I used to work for one of the very large internationals and I was involved in building a few decent sized plants in China in late 1990. Floor slabs over 2,500 square meters were always poured without joints even in earthquake prone zones so I was a little surprised 20 years later in Australia to be told that the Earth is flat and I can't have slab without joints.
The slab we have poured here required very careful compacting of the base, a bit more carefully placed rebar but the trick was use of steel fiber and a concrete mix keeping plasticity longer during curing.
